STATEMENT:
Dr. Womb and Dr. Tomb are two traveling "doctors" well studied in the medical treatments of yesteryear and committed to the gender politics of the Victorian era and the contemporary GOP. They are determined to cure all that ails and avails the uterus, and in doing so, healing all that ails and avails womankind, their families, and the nation. Their stalwart assistant/audience plant is the unfortunate victim of their "miraculous ministrations," which build in intensity and invasiveness as the show goes on.
The show is a satirical response to the recent, highly unnerving, seemingly unending political discussions about women and their bodies, as well as the recent attempts by some elected officials to assert control over what a woman chooses to do (or not do) with her body.
Part vaudeville, part tent revival, part history of the medical establishment's approach to women's healthcare, the show is campy, incredibly naughty, and highly interactive. For example, the doctors' final cure requires the assistance three male audience members and gallons of water.
