Vicky holds a PhD in Theatre and Drama from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is an Associate Professor of Theatre / Associate Chair of the Department of Theatre and Musical Theatre at Sam Houston State University. Vicky has taught theatre history/theory/literature, dramaturgy, physical and devised performance, postcolonial texts, cultural theory, and directed productions at UW-Madison, Gettysburg College, Franklin and Marshall College, and Sam Houston State University.
Her research explores representations of culture in performances in and around tourist locations and she has multiple publications on Disney parks and culture. She devises performances on the female body in politics, caregiver culture, and is a freelance dramaturg. She is the Focus Group Rep for the Theatre History Focus Group at ATHE, the immediate past co-chair of Representation, Equity, and Diversity for KCACTF Region 6. She was the chair of the SHSU Department of Theatre and Musical Theatre Anti-Racism and Intersectional Equity Committee and on the SHSU College of Arts and Media Equity Committee until Texas passed SB 17 into law.
